Robot's can break their legs too!

Here is a beautiful picture of a Robot made by Elsie. If you look closely you will notice that his legs are in plaster! I'm not sure what happened, but I think it's a reflection of the fact that Elsie actually had her leg in plaster while making this (she is fine now- it was just a precaution, and probably just a twisted something!). Her leg was in PINK plaster though! Thanks Elsie.

Let's have a MONKEY & ROBOT party!

Believe it or not - on this incredibly hot, summery, and beautiful day - it's October 3rd, and today is the release date of book number 4 'SNOW' how very apt?!

We thought we'd celebrate - as suggested by a small person at the Bath Lit Fest and a very Large person on facebook - and have a party!

JOIN US!

You can look as cool as us! Below are some mask templates and instructions - just choose which character you want to be - click on the picture and print it out (if it doesn't work for some reason- email me and I'll forward the artwork) then do a bit of marvellous colouring, cut eye holes, put some string/ elastic on you mask & wear. Then act appropriately (monkey-ishly or robotically)!
Take a photo to send me.

So if you are feeling a little sticky and hot maybe 'Snow: The Amazing Tale of an Incredible Snowball' will cool you down!
Buy it here....from BLOOMSBURY or AMAZON or pop to your local bookshop and ask them to get it in if they don't already stock it.

Monkey & Robot as you have never seen them before!

I've had a lovely afternoon with the reception class at Luckwell primary school today. I introduced them to M&R, talked to them about the stages involved in creating a book, and then gave then a sneak preview of book number 3 'In the garden' which thankfully went down very well. In fact, one boy, when I had finished reading said very loudly "I really liked that"! What a perfect audience! Hurrah!
I then worked with small groups, creating our own seed drawings, inspired by the story. I sadly have no photos of the incredible, hairy seed that grew into a hairy spider plant, or the perfect tomato plant with 12 delicious looking toms on it, not to mention the giraffe egg! I do however have, above, a quick snap of the activity the other children got on with whilst the small groups were with me. I did a massive picture of Monkey and Robot (50cm W by 250cm H) for them to do mega team colouring in and LOOK AT THE RESULTS! Woo Hoo what psychedelic creatures they are!
Much fun was had by all...well certainly by me anyway!

Am looking forward to going to At-Bristol for 3 days at the start of August as resident Monkey & Robot expert! We'll be reading stories and making our own cardboard Robots- can't wait!

The most beautiful wooden robot in the world...ever?

Felix and I were completely stunned when we received a very special email a couple of days ago. We were utterly moved by the devotion, care and creativity a little girl and her dad used, together to produce the most beautiful Robot you will ever see.

I don't think I need to say any more, apart from THANK YOU Duncan & Jenny. You are both amazing, and so is your Robot!

Cardboard Robot MASK!

So it seems that masks are all the rage!
Dan made a monkey mask, and now, thanks to Daisy there is now a TOTALLY GLORIOUS  ROBOT MASK too!

Look at it! Blummin Ace!

Julia, Daisy's mum says " Daisy saw Dan's monkey mask and thought we should make a robot mask out of our Muller Light Yoghurt 6 pack packaging. We added corrugated cardboard for his neck. And pipe cleaner twirled around a pencil as the  'fing that is the wobot's bwain'. He is 'finking about stars' apparently (star stickers on his forehead, see)."

Thank you Daisy!

Julia is a bit of a wonder and has an amazing blog with creative delights to follow and be inspired by, have a look here ADVENTURES AT HOME
